PACT plants the first tree of the project to expand its facilities and launches Tech Academy in partnership with KPMG

13 December 2021

On December 13th, the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, was at PACT, where she participated in two remarkable events in the history of the entity: the planting of the first tree of the PACT facilities expansion project and the launch of the KPMG x PACT Tech Academy.

The planting of the first tree of the PACT expansion project, signed by the architect Carrilho da Graça, was a celebration of the first of four new buildings. This building, already under construction, is co-financed under the Interreg España-Portugal – Poctep CIU3A project and is expected to be completed in 2022, with half of the space already occupied. The expansion of PACT represents an investment of almost 9 million euros and will allow it to host around 60 new companies linked mainly to its four strategic areas – Aeronautics, Circular Economy, Industry 4.0 and Health Technologies.

The launch of KPMG x PACT Tech Academy was also one of the highlights of the day. This is an educational project that aims, among other initiatives, to promote the process of obtaining technological certifications by students of Higher Education Institutions in the region, without burdens and charges for them and conferred by various platforms such as OutSystems, SAS and Microsoft. The partnership with KPMG provides for the hiring of around 200 employees and the incubation of startups, creating more and new opportunities for students from the University of Évora and the Polytechnics of Beja, Portalegre and Santarém.
As sessions were attended by the Executive President of PACT, Soumodip Sarkar, Mayor of Évora, Carlos Pinto de Sá, President of CCDR Alentejo, António Ceia da Silva, Rector of the University of Évora, Ana Costa Freitas, Architect Carrilho da Graça, President of KPMG Portugal, Vítor Cunha Ribeirinho, Head of Advisory of KPMG Portugal, Nasser Sattar and the Co-founder and Vice-President of OutSystems, Rui Pereira.
